ALTAR SERVING

St. Timothy Catholic Church invites you to become an Altar Server or Acolyte.
What does an ALTAR SERVER do?

  • Assists in preparing the church for mass
  • Participates in the entrance procession
  • Assists the priest and deacon during mass
  • Assists at special masses, including weddings and funerals

What are the QUALIFICATIONS for being an altar server?

  • Must be between the grade levels of fourth grade and seventh grade (by September of current academic year)
  • Reliability and a willingness to serve at mass
  • Willingness to participate in the prayers and songs during mass
  • Your family does not need to be a member of the parish

What does an ACOLYTE do?

  • Helps direct the altar servers during preparation for mass
  • Leads the entrance procession
  • Provides leadership during mass

What are the QUALIFICATIONS to be an ACOLYTE?

  • Must be in at least the sixth grade (by September of the current academic year) AND
  • Must have two years of successful altar server experience… OR
  • Is in the eighth grade (by September of current academic year) AND has one year of successful alter server experience
  • Your family does not need to be a member of the parish
