The St. Timothy Knight physical education program is designed to reach the physical and health needs of our students.

The P.E. program is broken into three individualized curriculums that emphasize the physical and health needs of our students at the appropriate grade level they are entering.

• Pre Kindergarten has a completely unique and separate physical education program. This program is designed for the pre kindergarten age group with emphasis on fine and gross motor development.

• Grades K-3 focus on gross-motor development skills, body and spatial awareness, eye-hand coordination skills, eye-foot coordination skills, as well as individual and group activities. • Grades 4-6 move into the knowledge of sports, fitness, and nutrition. This program covers the rules and procedures of individual and team sports, the Presidential physical fitness test, and group activity with game situations.

• Grades 7-8 continue the same P.E. program as grades 4-6. The emphasis is on fitness and group activity. All students participate in weekly physical activities that develop the muscular and cardiovascular systems.

In conclusion, the St. Timothy Knight physical education program is a program that emphasizes a step by step progressive philosophy. The goals at each grade level are designed to have a feeling of success. The skills are modified to fit the needs of all students. The goal of the physical education department at St. Timothy School is to develop the life long learner with an emphasis on a healthy lifestyle and daily physical activity.
