High School preparation begins in Pre-Kindergarten
All students are continually assessed for readiness for advanced placement

 Pre-Kindergarten – Eighth Grade

  • Saxon Math program: inclusive program with students 1 year ahead (Kindergarten at first grade level, etc..)
  • Early literacy program with Destination Reading (1 year ahead)
  • Specialized phonics, vocabulary, reading and writing program
  • Technology program supports classroom goals and integrates technology across the curriculum
  • Computers in all classrooms, 3 MB/sec internet access for all computers, new 250 GB dual processor server
  • Students are introduced to computer lab in Kindergarten, touch typing in 2nd grade, PowerPoint in 3rd grade, 4th – 8th grade students are exposed to  PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • School-wide comprehensive Service Learning Program which encourages students to model good character, tolerance, respect and global awareness.  Character development is an essential part of students’ daily life and is woven into curriculum
  • Music taught to national standards
  • Individualized academic plan for each student Pre-K – 8th grade:  all students are assessed for readiness for the accelerated program starting in Kindergarten
  • Cursive and multiplication are introduced in 2nd grade
  • Criterion writing program implemented grades 4 – 8.
  • Science laboratory implemented in each class.  Experimentation, inquiries and scientific journaling practiced K – 8.  Scientific calculators grades 6- 8
  • Science projects required grades 3 – 8.  First place winners in grades 6 – 8 compete in County Science Fair
  • Grading policy (grades 3- 8):  St. Timothy grading policy is unique and designed to raise the “academic” bar
