LENA ROWLAND
School Principal
Born and raised in the Napa Valley region of California Principal Ms. Lena
Rowland was educated at Arizona State University, where she received a
Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a focus in Organizational and
Intercultural Communication. After graduating, she worked in a corporate setting
in sales and marketing. She decided to return to school because she wanted to
make the difference in the life of a child- academically, socially, and spiritually.
She received her Masters of Arts Degree in Elementary Education which an
emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix in
Phoenix, AZ. Ms. Lena Rowland then started her career in Education in Arizona
where she was a first grade lead teacher. She moved to Los Angeles in 2005
and found her home at St. Timothy School as the first grade teacher. In 2006,
she became the Vice Principal and in 2010 was hired as the new Principal of St.
Timothy School.
Ms. Rowland’s love for education and children is evident in her daily interactions
with the faculty, staff, parents, and students. She believes in leading by example
and holds her students and faculty to the highest standards. Her primary goals
at St. Timothy School are to instill a love for learning among the students with
Christ at the center and to maintain St Timothy School’s strong tradition of
academic excellence. With the collaboration of faculty, staff, students, parents,
and parishioners, it is her hope to develop new and innovative programs that
will continue to place St. Timothy School at the forefront in Catholic education.
Outside of St. Timothy her interests include service-learning, festivals and
concerts, traveling, hiking, biking, reading, and scuba diving.

LORRAINE LOWDER
Office Manager
The first person you meet when you enter St. Timothy School is the welcoming face of Lorraine Lowder. She has been with the school since 2001 serving as the Office Manager, which basically means helping run the whole school. She works closely with Principal Iselda Richmond, seeing to the most minor and major of road bumps that can be encountered at St. Timothy School . Lorraine was born in Baltimore , Maryland and received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Towson State University . She came to St. Timothy School when she enrolled her daughter here in 1996. Not only does she bring much joy to St. Timothy School , she also is a regular attendee of St. Timothy Church. When she is not an avid helper-outer, she is an avid reader.

CHRISTY NOVAK
Eighth Grade Homeroom Teacher
Sixth, Seventh & Eighth Grade Mathematics and Science
Sixth, Seventh & Eighth Grade English and Language Arts Teacher
Mrs. Novak was born in Hollywood and resides within 5 miles of her childhood home. She is a graduate of Cal State Northridge with a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Studies and focus on Art and Theater. Mrs. Novak has had extensive experience teaching students in elementary school and middle school. She spent 13 years as Assistant in Special Education at Brockton Avenue School and 3 years at Emerson Middle Schoolteaching Math and English. Mrs. Novak has had experience with her own tutoring business which focused on “learning how to learn”. Her commitment to family and values is evident in her teaching style. Mrs. Novak’s students benefit widely from her philosophy that every child learns differently “...it is my job as their teacher to find the strength of each student and teach to it. Once a child has learned to learn, they can spread their wings and soar!”

CLARENCE CLARK
Seventh Grade Homeroom Teacher
Sixth, Seventh & Eighth Grade Social Studies and Religion Teacher
Mr. Clark’s attitude toward teaching is to go just beyond a student’s level, challenging them, thus causing them to strive harder and therefore give better results. This Los Angeles raised teacher who was born in Havana, Cuba, has a love not just for teaching, but for learning. He graduated from St. Francis High School, received his Bachelors Degree in Philosophy from University of Southern California, his Jurist Doctorate from Hastings College of Law and his certificate in Human Resources Management at UCLA Extension. Mr. Clark is currently earning his Masters in Education at Mount St. Mary’s College. He has worked as a paralegal and enjoyed teaching grades 6 through 12 for the past 5 years. In his spare time he volunteers at Ahead Leadership Program and Tilden Summer Camp, and when he finds the time he enjoys hiking and photography.

KATHLEEN JENSEN
Fifth Grade Teacher
Ms. Kathleen Jensen is originally from a suburb near Chicago, Illinois where she lived until 1999. She moved to Arizona where she found the climate much warmer and worked as a Catering Sales Manager. Always knowing she wanted to be a teacher, she began evening school to pursue her dream. After graduating from Ottawa University where she received her Bachelors Degree, Ms. Jensen has taught as a 5th grade teacher inArizona. Her talents with web design (she won an award from USA Today), reading and a passion for writing have our 5th grade students very fortunate to enjoy their own 5th grade web page where their stories are published. Her personal classroom library houses over 1,000 books! Ms. Jensen believes the parent, the child and the teacher are an educational team and that setting high standards along with a supportive environment will allow her students to achieve at an even higher level. When not busy with our St. Timothy students, Ms. Jensen is busy caring for her Shar-pei, Mack, and two cats, Bella and Diego!

SUNNY LEE
Fourth Grade Teacher
Mrs. Lee is originally from South Korea and moved to the United States at the age of five. She grew up in Torrance, California and received her Bachelors in Sociology from University of California, Irvine. She has a Multi-Subject Teaching certification from California State University, Los Angeles. Mrs. Lee has taught fourth grade since 2004 and has devoted her life to teaching children and instilling the love of learning in all of her students. Students in Mrs. Lee’s class utilize hands-on tools and visuals through role-playing, and with the help of technology, they enhance and share their learned experiences. Mrs. Lee explains that “continual culturally and socially mediated instruction allows my students to adopt viewpoints and make connections between academic concepts in their own lives.” Mrs. Lee enjoys teaching at St. Timothy School where “we teach students to be successful academically and be compassionate students.” When not at St. Timothy School, Mrs. Lee can be found at home cooking Korean and Mexican food. She also enjoys reading mystery novels and traveling to warm, tropical destinations.

PINA DI GIUSEPPE
Third Grade Teacher
Pina Di Giuseppe has devoted her career to teaching in Catholic schools because “I strongly believe that a Catholic education is the key to success for young students,” she maintains. At St. Timothy School she serves as a Third Grade teacher and is excellent at motivating her students with a happy, positive approach to learning. Ms. Di Giuseppe was born in Caracas, Venezuela to Italian parents. At an early age she moved with her family to Toronto, Ontario, Canada where she went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Toronto. She and her husband Renato have two children, Marco and Bianca. Ms. Di Giuseppe is a skilled cook and gardener, and she also has developed an interest in jewelry making.

BELINDA RODRIGUEZ
Second Grade Teacher
Miss Rodriquez believes learning is multifaceted and that students should have opportunities to engage in creative and imaginative thinking. She believes students should be provided with opportunities for self expression since creativity and imagination play a major role in learning. Miss Rodriquez views each of her students as an individual and honors different learning styles and abilities. She motivates her students by permitting them to make learning choices and thus she maintains their interest as well as fosters a passion in learning in each student. Miss Rodriguez is native to Connecticut and received her Bachelors in the Science of Education at Central Connecticut State University. She is currently completing her Masters in Education from the University of New England. Miss Rodriguez has taught 1st grade for two years and 2nd grade for three years in Connecticut. Outside of teaching at St. Timothy School, she enjoys baking, movie going and is involved in saving shelter dogs, the rainforest, helping the American Cancer Society, as well as supporting our troops.

GABRIELA CONTRERAS
Kindergarten Teacher
Lifelong Angeleno Gabriela Contreras was educated at University of California Los Angeles, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and History, and Pepperdine University, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education and a teaching credential. For two years she taught at St. Monica Catholic High School and has taught at St. Timothy as our Kindergarten teacher since 2004. She cherishes her job because, as she says, “I admire their innocence, hope and free spirit,” and she believes that the small class sizes and individual attention is what makes kids feel special and want to succeed. She has a penchant for architecture, which comes into good use when she is volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.

RICHARD BELOZ
P.E. Teacher/Athletic Department
This Los Angeles native who likes to go by the name of Coach “B” not only spent his childhood in Southern California, he was also educated here. After graduating from John Marshall High School, he attended East Los Angeles College and then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Redlands. He then coached basketball, football and track at Sts. Felicitas and Perpetua School. Mr. Beloz has an outstanding attitude about coaching. He believes that “with proper instruction all my students can achieve their goals and move on to the next level with confidence.” His passion for sports comes from the terrific coaching he received as a child when his father was often bedridden. His help extends beyond St. Timothy School: for 17 summers he has worked with the Boys and Girls Clubs in Pasadena. When not at St. Timothy, Coach Beloz is training for his 23nd Los Angeles Marathon. Go Coach!

DEBORAH SHRAIBATI
Religious Education Director
Deborah Chan Shraibati became the Director of Religious Education in July of 2008. Deborah has a profound devotion to the Church and she is passionate in her work with children and their parents. Through her new and expanded Family Mass program, she strives to promote the unity and highlight the positive image between the school and the Church. Prior to coming to St. Timothy, Deborah worked for six years as Director of Family Mass at St. Martin of Tours Church and six years as a catechist at Good Shepherd Parish. She served in the Liturgy Steering Committee at Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral where she was also a multi-lingual lector. She holds a degree in business from USC, has extensive theological and pastoral training from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and has completed additional religious studies at Loyola Marymount University. Deborah was born in Hong Kong and moved to Los Angeles in 1981. Her passions include opera, education and travel. Deborah’s revitalization of St. Timothy Church Religious Education Program is impressive and motivating. Our Sunday children’s Mass is only one example of how Deborah has demonstrated what an important role our students have in St. Timothy Church.

JOSE HENRIQUEZ
Head Custodian
St. Timothy School’s resident “night owl” Jose Henriquez is a vital part of our school. While children are home studying and playing, Mr. Henriquez is busy keeping the school’s grounds in top shape. Born in El Salvador and one of fourteen children, Jose decided to make United States his home in 2000. His wife Doris, his six year old daughter, also named Doris, and his two dogs keep him active when not at work. Prior to working at St. Timothy School, he worked at St. Bernard High. He joined the St. Timothy team in September of 2001. An avid “Lakers” fan, Mr. Henriquez also enjoys watching soccer games. He is constantly amazed with the talents of the children at St. Timothy School. He feels they are very bright and he is most impressed with their technological abilities, even the Kindergarteners.
